In September 2014, Apple® unveiled Apple Pay, a feature that enabled consumers to use their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch to pay for goods and services. Apple Pay utilizes built-in NFC (near-field communication) technology, meaning consumers can use the Touch ID sensor on their device to authorize point-of-sale purchases at any retailer with NFC capabilities.
When Apple Pay first launched, United Heritage Credit Union was placed on an implementation list. CO-OP Financial Services and Apple were in control of that list as well as implementation scheduling. After UHCU began the adoption process, Apple changed Apple Pay's security requirements. At that time, UHCU halted the adoption of Apple Pay to further evaluate these new requirements.
Currently, we do not have an anticipated launch date for UHCU debit card use on Apple Pay. UHCU credit cards have not been affected and are still active on Apple Pay. We appreciate your patience and will update you should we get any new information.
Update - Spring 2018
Apple Pay is now available for all United Heritage Credit Union credit cards and debit cards.
