United Heritage Credit Union is turning 60, and we're inviting you to celebrate with us all year long!
We opened our doors in 1957 as Military Federal Credit Union, offering military personnel savings and loan services. In 1969, our name changed to Bergstrom Federal Credit Union. At that time, we expanded our service offerings and increased our overall membership base.
In 1989, we merged with Texas Hospital Association Credit Union, Texas National Guard Credit Union and Healthcare Federal Credit Union. Thus, we were able to include hospitals, hospital affiliates and select employer groups in our growing membership base by the time we changed our name to United Heritage Federal Credit Union in 1993.
Changing from a federal charter to a state charter in 1997, we're now open to the Central Texas, Austin and Tyler communities, enabling us to help more people than ever. Today, our assets total more than $885 million and we are proud to serve over 58,000 members across 12 branches.
Despite all of the changes over the last 60 years, one thing has not changed: our dedication to the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People." That and our commitment to providing quality, personalized service to our members are steady and unchanged.
We wouldn't be here today without you – our member – so as a way to say "Thank you!" for helping us succeed, we're hosting a number of anniversary celebrations throughout the year. Stay tuned for more information about these events on our website. Also, don't forget to sign up to receive the Observer newsletter via email and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google+.
