Austin-based United Heritage Credit Union is celebrating 60 years of providing members with superior financial services.
"We are so incredibly proud to have reached this milestone and look forward to serving Central Texans for decades to come," United Heritage Credit Union Chairman May D. Lofgreen said.
United Heritage Credit Union opened its doors on January 16, 1957, as Military Federal Credit Union in order to provide comprehensive banking services to military personnel. After three name changes, membership expansion and a shift from a federal to state charter, the Credit Union became United Heritage Credit Union in 1997.
"We've come a long way over the past six decades," United Heritage Credit Union CEO Buddy Schroeder said. "We've helped Texans buy cars, own homes and achieve financial stability, and we'll continue doing so for many more years."
Since its opening in 1957, United Heritage has grown into an $895 million, not-for-profit financial cooperative with more than 58,000 members and 12 branches. While much has changed over the last six decades, the Credit Union's dedication to the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People" and commitment to quality, personalized service have not.
The success of United Heritage Credit Union would not be possible without the talented employees who work tirelessly to help members on the path to financial well-being.
"The Credit Union's focus has always been on its members," Schroeder said. "Our employees' commitment to our members has been unwavering for 60 years, and that's why we are here and thriving today."
Providing members with superior money management services and technology is also an integral part of United Heritage Credit Union's overall growth strategy. In 2015, the Credit Union launched Mobile Check Deposit, which gives members the ability to conveniently deposit funds using their mobile devices. An upgraded Online Banking experience, Visa Checkout functionality and more convenient digital services were unveiled a year later.
To celebrate the achievements of the last six decades, United Heritage Credit Union is hosting a variety of anniversary events for members throughout 2017. Head to uhcu.org/60years
