2019 Spring Book Drive

United Heritage Credit Union is excited to host our 2019 Book Drive from Monday, March 4 to Friday, March 22 benefiting BookSpring in the Austin-area and the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas in the Tyler-area.

How to Help:

We encourage our members to participate by bringing gently used or new children’s books to their local UHCU branch location. They can be placed in one of our donation barrels or given to a branch employee. UHCU employees will also be collecting books, all of which will be delivered to BookSpring and the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas.

We appreciate all who support the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.”

Donation Guidelines:

  • Gently used infant board books, children's picture books, elementary chapter books, young adult books, adult bestsellers and contemporary non-fiction books
  • Covers and pages intact, clean and unmarked
  • No textbooks, encyclopedias or library discards
  • No used coloring or activity books

Book Drive Timeline:

Monday, March 4 to Friday, March 22

Who We're Helping:

BookSpring (Austin-area)

BookSpring's mission is to provide reading experiences, tools and books to children and their families so they can develop a desire to read and succeed in school and life. Because the inability to read has been linked to an individual's self-esteem and ability to advance socially and academically, BookSpring has made it their goal to help drive early literacy development. BookSpring strives to reach families when children are young and encourage them to foster reading comprehension skills in the early years of brain development. BookSpring works daily to equip children, families and communities with the tools and skills required for long-term success.

Boys and Girls Club of East Texas (Tyler-area)

The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas provides safe, quality, educational, and enriching after-school programs for children ages kindergarten through 5th grade and one middle school location. Located at 18 different schools throughout East Texas, the after-school programs are designed to benefit the academic, social, physical, spiritual and emotional development of children in the programs.
