Team United Heritage: 2013 Year in Review

Every month of the year you can catch a member of Team United Heritage in an act of kindness. Team United Heritage is comprised of Credit Union employees who volunteer their time, partake in fundraising events and give to donation drives. They truly want to make a difference in the lives of others.

In 2013, Team United Heritage participated in more than 55 volunteer projects, fundraising events and donation drives. As of November 30, United Heritage employees had logged 585.5 hours of volunteer time. And with 3 volunteer opportunities available in the month of December, that number is sure to increase. Organizations benefiting from Team United Heritage's efforts include, but are not limited to:

Team United Heritage was involved in a wide spectrum of activities throughout the year. Its members collected items such as school supplies, books and coats for different organizations to distribute to those in need. They made pillow cases for the elderly and blankets for homeless animals. Team United Heritage volunteers raised funds and joined in events such as the CASA Superhero Run and the Walk to End Alzheimer's. They also helped build homes with Habitat for Humanity and assisted in the Lake Travis Underwater & Shoreline Cleanup efforts.

We asked our employees to tell us about their involvement with Team United Heritage. Here are their answers:

The best part of being involved with Team United Heritage is participating in events where you can actually see the difference you are making. During the Lake Travis Cleanup we picked up trash around the lake and were able to see just how much was out there and how much difference our efforts really made.” –Sidney C.

“I love being able to give back to my community, it makes me feel like this whole city is my home.  The Habitat for Humanity last year was humbling as we got to meet the mom and children who were moving into the home we helped build.” –Darla F.

The best part about being involved with Team United Heritage is the ability to make a difference right here in our own communities. We have opportunities in so many different types of charities and foundations that you can pick the events that mean the most to you individually.  At the end of the year it’s amazing to see the impact just a few hours a month can add up to.” –Theresa L.

Team United Heritage helps me to be a better person! I have the privilege of organizing large volunteer efforts that impact people in my very own community. It warms my heart and I am truly thankful to be a part of something so special.” –Melissa M.

For Team United Heritage, the season of giving isn't limited to a few months - it’s a year-round commitment. Thank you all for your hard work!
